If Quordle is too challenging today, here are some hints. Not only hints, but also the complete Quordle solution. You can find it by scrolling to the bottom of this page. However, do you really need all four answers? Maybe you just need a strategy guide. Either way, scroll down for what you need.
What is Quordle?
Quordle is a five-letter word guessing game similar to Wordle, but with the twist that each guess applies letters to four words at the same time. You have nine guesses to correctly guess all four words, instead of the usual six in Wordle. It’s like playing four Wordle games simultaneously, but not as intimidating as it sounds.
Is Quordle harder than Wordle?
Yes, although not overwhelmingly so.
Where did Quordle come from?
During the Wordle boom of late 2021 and early 2022, when everyone was enjoying free, in-browser, once-a-day word guessing games, creator Freddie Meyer drew inspiration from one of the first popular variations of Wordle called Dordle, where you essentially play two Wordle games simultaneously. Meyer took it a step further and released Quordle on January 30(opens in a new tab). Six days later, Meyer’s creation was featured in The Guardian(opens in a new tab). According to Meyer, Quordle now attracts millions of daily users. Meyer earns modest revenue(opens in a new tab) from Patreon, where dedicated Quordle fans can donate to support their favorite puzzle game.
How is Quordle pronounced?
It should be pronounced as “Kwordle,” rhyming with “Wordle,” and definitely not like “curdle.”
Is Quordle strategy different from Wordle?
Yes and no.
Your initial strategy in Quordle should be the same as in Wordle. If you have a favorite opening word in Wordle, there’s no need to change it for Quordle. We recommend using something with many vowels and common letters like C, R, and N. But feel free to choose what works best for you.
After your first guess, however, you’ll notice that things can quickly get out of control if you approach Quordle exactly like Wordle.
What should I do differently in Quordle compared to Wordle?
In Wordle, you can often solve the puzzle by making single letter changes in variations. For example, if you’ve narrowed it down to “-IGHT,” you might guess “MIGHT,” “NIGHT,” “LIGHT,” and “SIGHT,” and one of those could be the solution. However, this approach can also lead to losses in Wordle, especially in “hard mode.” In Quordle, this single-letter narrowing tactic is a dangerous trap. The important strategic difference between Wordle and Quordle is that in Quordle, you can’t afford to waste guesses unless you’re eliminating as many letters as possible at all times.
In Wordle, randomly guessing a word you already know is not the solution just to eliminate three or four possible letters you haven’t tried yet is considered a desperate move. However, in Quordle, it’s a normal part of the player’s strategic toolkit.
Is there a faster way to get the answer?
In my experience, Quordle can be a slow game, sometimes taking longer than playing Wordle four times. However, a brute-force guessing approach can speed things up. The following strategy also works for Wordle if you only want the solution and don’t necessarily care about making the fewest guesses:
Try starting with a series of words that include all the vowels (including Y) along with other common letters. We have had success with three words: “NOTES,” “ACRID,” and “LUMPY.” YouTuber DougMansLand(opens in a new tab) suggests four words: “CANOE,” “SKIRT,” “PLUMB,” and “FUDGY.”
By doing this, you eliminate most of the letters in the alphabet, and you’ll only have one or two wrong guesses if you follow this strategy. In most cases, you’ll have all the information you need to guess the remaining words without any mistakes.
