Spotify Pulls the Plug on Meghan Markle Podcast After a Single Season

For the past few weeks, the declining popularity of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has been a major topic in the British media. Now, outlets that have been critical of the couple will have more ammunition to support their claims of a crisis, as Meghan’s latest career setback has been confirmed. A spokesperson for the Duchess has announced that her podcast, “Archetypes,” will not be returning for a second season on Spotify. The show premiered in August 2022 as part of the Sussexes’ $25 million deal with the streaming platform. Representatives from Spotify and Archewell Audio, the couple’s production company, released a joint statement, mutually agreeing to end their partnership. However, industry experts speculate that Spotify executives made the decision to cancel Meghan’s deal. It is unclear why Meghan would end her contract with the largest audio streaming service if she plans to continue podcasting. Reports suggest that Spotify chose not to renew “Archetypes” for a second season, potentially because Meghan did not produce enough content to satisfy the platform. In contrast, popular podcaster Joe Rogan released over 170 episodes in the past year alone. While Harry and Meghan have numerous opportunities in their careers, it seems that Meghan’s podcasting career has come to an end, at least for now.
